Duplicate Titles

If the original certificate of title has been lost or destroyed, a duplicate certificate of title may be issued. When there is an outstanding lien on record, only the lienholder may apply for a duplicate title.

A form HSMV 82101 is required to make application for duplicate title. The duplicate title may be applied for if the vehicle owner is not present, provided the vehicle owner signs a Power of Attorney, form HSMV 82053.

Fee for the duplicate title is $75.75 if remaining electronic, an additional $2.50 fee is charged to print the duplicate document. No fee is charged for a replacement certificate of title when the certificate of title is lost in the mail and the application for replacement title is made within 180 days from the current issue date.

NOTE: FAST TITLE SERVICE is available at "ALL" branches (except the Ocala Annex Branch), for an additional $10.00 fee for vehicles and $5.00 for vessels.

An authorization for "Release of Fast Title" may be required if the registered owner is not present at time of transfer. A photo ID is required in order to verify that the recipient of the title certificate is the owner on record.
